This blog is mainly a blog that puts forth ideas. It is not about my life all the time. However, sometimes you will find postings about what I have been doing. It is mainly to motivate Christ centered thought.

Chaplain school

I am currently attending Chaplain school for seven weeks at Fort Jackson. I have finished my first week. You may pray for me that, I will walk in the Spirit and bring glory to God. I also would like your prayer that Monday I will pass my AFPT. That is my fitness test. This friday I am also going to be preaching a short 10-15 minute sermon. I do not yet have my assigned text. Chaplain school is a great experience that really looks at the needs of the human life. This is some great training that supplements my seminary training well. The challenges of pluralism are also very stretching and helps me to grow in a good way. Stand fast in the Lord and lean upon Him at all times for strength. Pray for my Wife. Love you all.

Homosexuals

So I went out to a local college other than Liberty University today to witness and ran in to a guy there. We exchanged some information and now have sent a few emails. Specifically the student told me he needed to know my position and my churches position on Homosexuality. With that I replied that we believe the Bible and sent him Romans 1:16-32. That passage says that homosexuality is unatural and sin. Secondly I told him that he was welcome to come to our church and hear the word of God and I closed with this verse. 1Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
1Corinthians 6:10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
1Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

It is not that the Conservative Bible Believing church "Hates homosexuals" although there are sadly some who do. Its that we believe it to be wrong. However it is like everything. God can forgive it and a person can move on from it. Christ died on the cross and was burried and rose again and now lives seated making intercesion at the right hand of the throne of God for the forgiveness of Sin period. Not the forgiveness of some sin and not others but of sin. Love homosexuals and witness to them even though you disagree with their sin.

Starting the summer study again

Tonight, July 19 2007 will be the start of a summer Bible study. The fall and spring Bible studies have been a great time of refreshment and encouragement in God's word I am confident this will be equally valuable. I would like to recommend an article if you are interested in studying the book of Romans in an in-depth manner. "Eternal Son, Davidic Son, Messianic Son: An exposition of Romans 1:1-7" By David J. MacLeod published in Bibliotheca Sacra 162 (Jan-March 2005) pg. 76-94. I found this be a good read. There is Greek in this article but if you’re not a student of the Greek do not fear. Most of the Greek has the English preceding or following it and word studies are done throughout the article explaining the Greek. In other words if you cannot read Greek you can still read and benefit from this article. I hope that you will study Romans or any part of scripture and all it to change you.

God Bless,
Tim

stress

I can get stressed out sometimes. I suppose this is nothing out of the ordinary. All people get stressed out at times. Normally its self inflicted in my case in the intersting thing. Sometimes I just tell God what is going on with me in plain specific terms. Other times I just ignore it and end up having to apologize to people. I think something that I have noticed about myself is that when I stress my assumptions are increased. I assume more things and these assumptions are for the worse. That is something that often or almost always is bad for me. Tomorrow I have to preach on Paul's Letter to the Romans. It is Romans 1:1-7 the introduction. Paul in his typical greating uses "Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." I think Paul understood that Grace and peace in a way beyond my own understanding. I think that the expereinces that he went through in live made Paul eternally grateful to God. That is why Grace and Peace are Paul's greeting in almost all his letters. Paul wants us to understand this Grace that would cause God to die for us. He wants us to understand this peace that comes from having our sins forgiven and our relationship restored with God. When times of Stress come and they will remeber the Grace and Peace of Paul. I know I will forget this but, remebering it as much as possible is what we should strive for.

random

So I am just kinda bored tonight so I thought I would write a bit. Some choices in life are huge and its hard to really know which one to make sometimes. Thats how I feel sometimes. Also you have so many people around you who know exactly what to do with your life that it does not help things much. Everyone else knows that you should do things at certian time and just how to do them and if they are done any differently then they are so totally wrong. This is true often even if that person did it the way they told you not to do. Also some people just have to know everything and have to make decions about things that only serve their better interest. For instance if its not something they naturally think of than God forbid it ever be done. It does not matter if they have never done it. What is it that prevents a person who has never done something (I am not talking about immoral choices or drugs and getting drunk) from just trying it and having a good attitued about it even though it appears not to be something they are into? Anyways those are my random thoughts.

Merry Christmas

Just a brief comment here tonight. The so called war on Christmas has got me thinking. Why is it that Christians are so pumped about this anyways? Why not instead of threatening stores with economic sanctions just go on witnessing crusades? Anyways my point is their are much greater things people could be doing then spending time to get people to say Christmas. So read Luke 2 sometimes and praise the Lord.
